In 1999 Walter’s was awarded the regional  Kansas Business Appreciation Award from the Kansas Department of Commerce & Housing.

On October 6, 1999 at a ceremony in Fort Scott, Walter’s received the 1999 Governor’s Award for Outstanding Merchants in the Main Street USA competition.
