In a small town, word of mouth plays an especially important role in business success… That’s why at Walter's, we place such special emphasis on friendliness and community relations… It’s the special touch that is the bottom line to our success.
About Us :
In 1916 it was Carroll's Flower Shop; next it was Rose Bud. Then in 1925, Raymond Walter came to El Dorado at the age of 23, purchased the existing business and changed the name to Walter's. Mr. Walter retired in 1972 and sold the business to Clete and Betty Haines. In 1974 Harold Harmon came to work for them as a designer and manager until 1976 when he and his wife Linda purchased the shop at 521 W. Third.
Walter's Flowers and Interiors celebrated it's grand opening in a new location. Harold and Linda had purchased the JC Penney building at 124 N. Main earlier that year, and after months of planning, revising plans and ongoing renovation construction, a dream came true. El Dorado had a new business to showcase it's downtown shopping area. The new location gave Walter's over 9000 square feet to dispaly new and exciting lines of gifts as well as decorator pieces and furniture. There was also a much larger work room, a reception gallery and storage space. In the twelve months since opening Walter's has received visitors from not only the greater Butler County area but also from the entire state of Kansas, the United States , and even England, Russia and Israel. Walter's expansion has, in part, been the catalyst to help generate more enthusiasm in the downtown area.
